An individual who contaminated sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys aged nine and 10.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was remanded in custody before a further hearing on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor added: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said objects including baby oil, Vaseline and medical needles were located, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained the defendant went on to play the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member called the law enforcement a second time.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
