I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters came face-to-face to build hype for next month's boxing match.

Ex two-time world title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I plan to injure his face and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to seriously aim to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually famous for his theatrics - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul rather criticized ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, targeted UK opponent Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Jake Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Nevertheless, the novice is still one of boxing's greatest commercial attractions, consistently making huge paydays.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul said.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the traditional face-off, with their size difference clearly visible, it drove home just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the bout is really proceeding.
